Today, voting begins for Oregon Manifest and Levi’s® “The Bike Design Project”—a pioneering bike design competition which partners five high-level design firms with American bicycle craftsmen to create the Ultimate Urban Utility Bike. The competition includes teams from the city of Chicago, New York, Portland, San Francisco and Seattle. Voting for “The Bike Design Project” starts today at www.oregonmanifest.com/vote and concludes on August 3rd. The winning design will be announced on August 4th and then move into production with the competition’s Manufacturing Partner, Fuji Bikes, for its retail debut in 2015.
Giving a birds-eye view of the pulse of six major cities, Foursquare recently released videos showing exactly how users of the app navigate through San Francisco, New York City, Chicago, London, Istanbul and Tokyo. The company “took a year of check-ins and condensed them to show what each city looks like on an average day.” The time-lapse videos are color coded to distinguish check-ins associated with activities such as school, travel and nightlife and offer an awe-inspiring glimpse into location-based behaviors.
The upcoming book, NYC Basic Tips and Etiquette, is a labor of love from New Yorker, Nathan Pyle. In March, Pyle uploaded numerous GIFs to Reddit that expressed the things every New Yorker should know, garnering over 48,000 upvotes and 200,000 clicks. Two weeks later, he landed the book deal. The book is a continuation of the Reddit post, that will feature 144 tips and tricks for navigating the Big Apple.
