To celebrate the posthumous album release of Michael Jackson’s Xscape, Epic Records took to the Top of the Rock, for a one-of-a-kind listening experience. On Tuesday, April 8, 2014, Music industry pioneers Sylvia Rhone and L.A. Reid invited a select group of influencers and music aficionados to experience Xscape for the first time.

For the ultimate intimate experience, guests weren’t allowed to take photographs inside. They enjoyed custom cocktails from an open Diageo bar and small bites catered by Union Square Events. Guests were enthused to be a part of the elevated listening experience while surrounded by the breathtaking view of the New York City skyline.  

February 10th, 2014

On February 4, 2014, Hennessy invited 50 guests to a 10-course feast at the Lake Pavilion Restaurant in Flushing. Hosted by fashion blogger, Wendy Lam, sneaker guru, Yu-Ming Wu, NIKE brand manager, Rocky Xu, and Converse Director of Communications, Christine Su, the evening was filled with laughter and conversation, as influencers dined together (family-style) and enjoyed custom “Wooden Horse” cocktails. Hennessy’s roots in Chinese culture extend to over 150 years ago, as the spirit was introduced in China in 1859.  

Complete with a dragon dance, hand-engraved Hennessy Privilege bottles, red envelopes filled with cash, and many more Lunar New Year traditions, guests were fully satisfied by the end of the night.

The culmination of JBL’s three-city tour celebrating the launch of the Synchros S700 Headphone, will take place this weekend in New York City. DJ D-Nice and DJ Wonder will provide the soundtrack for a day party overlooking the city from the rooftop of the Dream Hotel. The #DareToListen experience kicked off in Los Angeles and went on to Miami. The New York finale is one you don’t want to miss.

British graffiti artist Banksy is halfway through his New York street residency, unveiling a new installation each day and documenting the piece on his website.  Some of his recent installations include: stenciling work of a beaver in East New York, a moving installation in the Meatpacking District titled Sirens of the Lambs, and a mural in the Lower East Side.  

This past Saturday, original artwork by Banksy was sold in Central Park for only $60 to unsuspecting passersby making just $420 between 3 customers.  Banksy’s work typically goes for upwards of $30,000.  All of the artist’s New York residency work can be seen here.

Scott Morrison, the brain behind denim brands Paper Denim & Cloth and Earnest Sewn, pushes the boundaries with his 7,300 square foot denim concept shop, 3x1. Unveiled in 2011, the shop can best be described as part retail shop, part gallery, with in house production allowing patrons to see the action first hand. Each pair of jeans is limited edition, with only between 8-24 pair made of any given style and is fully customizable with 60 unique selvedge denims from all around the world.  The shop also offers bespoke services allowing customers to work with Morrison and his patternmaker from start to finish on their pair of jeans.  All good things come at a lofty price; your perfect pair of 3x1 jeans can cost upwards of $800.

The upcoming book, NYC Basic Tips and Etiquette, is a labor of love from New Yorker, Nathan Pyle. In March, Pyle uploaded numerous GIFs to Reddit that expressed the things every New Yorker should know, garnering over 48,000 upvotes and 200,000 clicks. Two weeks later, he landed the book deal. The book is a continuation of the Reddit post, that will feature 144 tips and tricks for navigating the Big Apple.

The book is currently available for pre-order on Amazon.

Real Fact #444: The Statue of Liberty wears a size 879. 

Luckily for Miss Liberty, Snapple created a new custom pair of sandals that fit just right. Known for their its bottle cap “Real Facts,” Snapple is making history by launching a tour with the world’s largest sandal. This initiative is part of its “Snapple re-enFactments” campaign, which brings some Real Facts to life both digitally and experientially. 

The tour allows New Yorkers to sample free Snapple flavors and interact with the sandal. 

Today is the last day to view the sandal at Brookfield Place Plaza.

Swimming in New York City rivers is not advised. However, the innovators at Family and PlayLab refused to allow that any longer and ideated the + POOL. Reaching their goal of $250,000 on Kickstarter, this project is officially underway. The end goal? A giant filtered pool in the shape of a plus sign for kids, athletes, and loungers that can either be divided into sections or open completely for play. 

The initial idea came from the will to clean New York City’s rivers. If this project does make it to the finish line, it will allow folks in Manhattan to swim in clean water for the first time in over 100 years. One tile at a time, this swimming pool will be built in 3 stages. 

The first was a test tank in 2011; the second stage is the float lab. The 35’ x 35’ Float Lab in the East River will be constructed this August to educate the public about this project and test filtration materials in real-river conditions. The third and final stage is the + POOL which will be comprised of 70,000 tiles that are available for purchase at around $200. If all the tiles are bought, it will completely fund the $15 million construction budget.

TE’s NYC: #SUMMERFRIDAYS Brooklyn Luau

On Friday, June 7th, Team Epiphany launched its highly anticipated event series, #SummerFridays, sponsored by Pepsi. To kick-off the June event series, Team Epiphany hosted a “Brooklyn Luau” themed event at Brooklyn Terrace. The rain couldn’t deter guests from getting lei’d and enjoying ice-cold Pepsi, Hennessy and Grey Goose Cherry Noir cocktails. The crowd-pleasing soundtrack was provided by DJ Wonder.

Brace yourselves for the most mind-bending bar you’ll ever step foot in. The Bar Oppenheimer in the basement of the Hotel Americano, in New York City, has overwhelming artwork that will surely make you doubt your next step. The mastermind behind this wacky bar is German artist, Tobias Rehberger, who was able to merge vertiginous artwork with a working bar. 

The bar serves two specialty drinks: the Vodka Stein and a tequila passion fruit concoction. If you’re in for a whirlwind of dizzying interior and fun drinks, go check this bar out!

Finding the perfect lipstick color is nearly impossible for the average woman. Finally, Bite Beauty has created a lipstick lab where anyone can create their very own one-of-a-kind lipstick, in a custom shade and scent. Not only is this process fun, but it also gives an inside look into how cosmetics are created.

So how do you create your own shade? First, participants customize their shade from 25 “color chocolates,” ranging from nude to dark purple. The Bite lipstick specialists then scoop the chocolates and let them melt into one unique blend. Ladies are then prompted to add one of four scents (superfruit, peppermint, cherry or violet) and choose a desired texture. Following these steps, the magic happens.

The Bite Beauty Lip Lab is currently located in Soho at 174 Prince Street.

There are countless apps on your iPhone that will tell you where to go but the more apps there are, the more of an effort it takes. With the world’s smartest street sign, Points, you will be pointed to just about any restaurant, bar, or event around town.

With rotating digital panels and ranging sets of data, the gadget shows popular restaurants, upcoming subway train times, or scores of sports games happening in the city.

Although Points was not created for a specific location or application, this new technology would be extremely helpful in a big city, amusement park, or music festival.
